Achyut is a senior student of Pt. Raghunandan Panshikar, foremost disciple of world-renowned vocalist Gaansaraswati Kishori Amonkar of the Jaipur-Atrauli gharana.

Achyut has had the privilege of studying with Pt. Raghuandan-ji since 2003 under the guru-shishya parampara. During this time, Achyut has learned Pt. Raghunandan-ji’s systematic approach to raag development and subtle nuances of vocal production. In addition to his classical music study, Achyut also received extensive training from Pt. Raghunandan-ji in light musical forms such as bhajan/abhang and ghazal

In 2005, Achyut studied with Pt. Raghunandan-ji on a Fulbright Scholarship.

Achyut also trains with Vidushi Subhra Guha in semi-classical forms such as thumri and dadra. Studying these more emotive, less structured forms has contributed to Achyut's inventiveness and spontaneity as a classical vocalist.

Shubhangi Sakhalkar

In the US, Achyut studies with Shubhangi Sakhalkar, of the San Francisco Bay Area. Shubhangi-ji, of the Kirana gharana, has inculcated in Achyut a sensitivity to tonal accuracy and has taught him the expansive improvisation characteristic of the Kirana gharana. This Kirana exposure has enriched Achyut's work as a Jaipur-Atrauli vocalist.
